Mel Walden

Mel Walden has 20 years’ TV production experience working across most genres and with specialist experience in factual entertainment.

Mel started her career at Endemol in 2000 on series such as Fame Academy (BBC One), The Salon (C4) and Big Brother’s Little Brother (C4). Six years followed at Tiger Aspect, the BBC and Shine – mainly on competition formats such as Project Catwalk (Sky1), The Restaurant (BBC Two), The Biggest Loser (ITV) Got To Dance (Sky1) and Michel Roux’s Service (BBC Two).

Mel joined Wall to Wall Media in 2012 leading the casting on four series of Child Genius (C4), Back In Time For Dinner/The Weekend (BBC Two), Bring Back Borstal (ITV) and The Victorian Slum (BBC Two), among others. Looking for new adventures, Mel moved to Electric Ray to head up the casting of Alone At Home for C4 and two series of BBC Two’s Million Pound Menu.

She currently finds stories for the Stand Up To Cancer appeal films, has recently found children with limb impairments for a new C4 programme, and is leading the remote casting of chef Gordon Ramsay’s first ever BBC One series Gordon Ramsay’s Future Food Stars.
