Bow Street was originally established as The Factory in 2010 by three of Ireland’s leading filmmakers, John Carney, Kirsten Sheridan, and Lance Daly. They were shortly joined by Casting Director Maureen Hughes and filmmaker Shimmy Marcus. Originally set up as a space for filmmakers to collaborate and share ideas, The Factory evolved into one of the country’s leading centres of excellence for training.
After 5 very successful years in the Docklands, The Factory moved to Smithfield and the company re-branded as Bow Street. Now housed in the old Jameson Building, a stunning protected structure, it has three floors above a basement offering 6 studios, a canteen, gym, and cinema. Now managed by Hughes and Marcus, together with General Manager Paul O’Connor, they have continue the same mission to discover, nurture, and train new screen acting talent.
Home to The Programme for Screen Acting, Ireland’s only full time, year-long acting course dedicated specifically to screen acting, and The Actors Studio, Bow Street provides a unique learning environment rooted in practical training methods.
