Calling all Future Filmmakers!
The Junior Film Fleadh is looking for entries from young filmmakers from the ages of 7 to 18 inclusive for the Future Filmmakers Short Film Programmes. The Festival takes place 9-12 November 2016 in Galway.
Today’s students are tomorrow’s filmmakers and, in addition to a mix of workshops, script competition, and panels, Junior Galway Film Fleadh want to give young filmmakers a platform to show their work on a big screen. If you, your friends, school, college, class, youth or sports club have made a short film and would like to see it on the big screen then send it our way. If you haven’t then we have one question:
What’s keeping you?
Seriously. It’s never been easier to make a film so grab some friends and a camera (or phones/tablets etc.) and get filming. The only rules are that it must be under 15 minutes and have been made in 2015/6 and…oh that seems to be it. A rough cut on DVD/blu ray/link/USB is totally fine at submission stage too, so you can have time to finish it off and get all those crucial special effects in there if selected.
Any genre/style from Documentary, Animation, Drama, Action, Musical, Comedy, Sci-Fi, Horror, or any mix thereof is acceptable. Also don’t be afraid to experiment and mix it up. We like surprises here! Entries are welcome as Gaeilge also.
Once again, the Junior Film Fleadh in partnership with the Matthew Martino Benevolent Fund (MMBF) is delighted to announce its Rising Stars Awards for Future Filmmakers. A prize will be offered in each of the 3 categories as follows:
The winning short in Future Filmmakers 1 (for beginner/primary filmmakers) will receive a unique trophy, while the winning entry in Future Filmmakers programme 2 (teens/secondary level filmmakers) will receive €75 along with a certificate. The winner filmmaker in Future Filmmakers 3 (Older teens and established young filmmakers) will receive a certificate, €150 and the opportunity to either work on a film set in the UK (If over 18) or attend a film festival in the UK (To be confirmed but most likely either London Film Festival or Raindance). Travel costs will be subsided by MMBF.
So what are you waiting for? Get filming!
Entry forms can be found at www.galwayfilmfleadh.com
Closing date is Friday 2nd September 2016.
