Changing demographics in the workplace continue to present diversity challenges for organisations and effective diversity management requires an organisational culture which is inclusive of a work environment that nurtures teamwork, participation, and cohesiveness. However, according to the Looking Glass research (2020) commissioned by The Film and TV Charity (UK), there is an unhealthy Industry working culture plaguing the TV and Film industry and there is risk of a revolving door, with diverse and talented workforce more likely to consider leaving the industry. Also, in the wake of COVID-19, many organisations face extra layers of challenges. Abrupt transitions to remote work that force new ways of communicating, rebuilding business strategies with no guarantees of success and the ever-present need for a workforce to do more with less is now a new ‘normal’. These current disruptions have the potential to take pre-existing workplace challenges to a whole new level.
This interactive workshop will include three online sessions which aim to support participants to recognise and encourage diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
The workshop will cover the following:
Session 1: Diversity & Inclusion (Introduction):
This introductory course is aimed at participants that want to integrate the ideas and practice of diversity and inclusion into the day-to-day managerial and learning processes of their organisation and its environment; and take decisions in an atmosphere of respect, trust and acceptance.
Session 2: Diversity and Inclusion (Attraction-Selection-Attrition):
This goal of this session is to help HR, Supervisors, Managers and Leaders better understand the challenges of diversity and how these challenges materialise within an organisation. The session also explains which individuals are likely to be attracted to your organisation, who is likely to get a job offer and who is likely to quit or be fired from your organisation. The attraction-selection-attrition framework will help participants to understand how to better support diversity.
Session 3: Managing Diversity and Inclusion (Embedding Inclusion):
This session aims to help organisations get ready for change. It outlines how organisations can begin to create more inclusive workplaces so that diversity efforts can be met with less resistance and more support. This session will also highlight how the framework of Lewin’s change theory, unfreezing-change-refreezing, can help create more inclusive organisations.
This two hour virtual course is aimed at Producers, Directors, Company leaders, HOD’s and anyone interested in learning strategies and techniques to manage bias and practice inclusive behaviours.
Screen Skills Ireland courses are open to all regardless of gender, race, religion, sexual orientation or disability.
