Talking the Talk (or, getting to the heart of visual—not verbiage-laden stories)
Speaker: Anne Roper
• Who’s telling the story and how? How soon will they get to the heart of the action? It’s all in the editorial & production planning…
• TV scripts aren’t essays or newspaper articles: when & why a programme or documentary needs words and what kind?

Structuring your Content for TV Format and Feature Length Cuts
Speaker: Andrew Gallimore
By looking at projects that Andrew has worked on, the following areas will be covered:
• To voice-over or not to voice-over – when it works and how it works.
• Setting the tone – the voice-over driving the narrative, not filling in the gaps.
• Re-editing through words.
• The evolution of the script – from conception to the final cut.

Writing Shooting Scripts and PTCs
Speaker: Gerry Hoban
By looking at shows that Gerry has worked on, such as Guess Who’s Dead?, Who Do You Think You Are? and Ireland’s Great Wealth Divide, the following areas will be covered:
• From Idea to Shoot (Creating a Shooting Script, identifying/planning PTCs, making sure the presenter ‘owns’ the programme)
• From Edit to End (shooting PTCs After the Event, the interaction between PTC & Voice-over)
• Writing for Celebrity Presenters (tightly scripted & controlled vs the improvised & emotional here and now)
