Course Profile:

Screen Skills Ireland is delighted to partner with Neil Leyden, Head of RTE.ie to bring you a Cross Platform Development Masterclass Series. This online series will introduce professional content creators to the concept of cross-platform development from concept to execution. The sessions will be provided by industry experts working in this area.

The series will provide you with an introduction to the concept and application of a cross-platform (or transmedia) development process. Examples will be given within a range of budgets from Hollywood blockbusters, innovative mid-budget range examples to low/no budget. These case studies will inform a process for developing IP from a cross-platform perspective.

For participants, the ability to create pilot content cheaply and test with an audience through online platforms is critical to the success of any cross-platform development. Data is at the heart of it and participants will be introduced to a wide-range of useful online toolsets and applications.

Neil will also outline the benefits of a cross-platform approach for dealing with RTÉ commissions and also the potential opportunities going forward as the national broadcaster becomes a national media provider.

The masterclass series will cover the following:

  • Cross-Platform / Trans-media Development in Practice – Triona Campbell and Nuno Bernardo
  • Developing Cross-Platform with Commercial Partners – Alan Swan
  • Cross-Platform – an International Perspective – TBC
  • The Platform Conundrum – Emmet O’Neill

Following the masterclass series participants will have the opportunity to avail of one to one sessions with some of the tutors. This will allow participants to pitch and develop the ideal cross-platform approach for a chosen project.

Participant Profile:

The masterclass is suitable for producers, independent content creators, creative executives managing teams that are developing IP; and content creators who wish to structure their ideas for presentation.
