This popular program for budding TV development creatives is back by popular demand. Where do great TV ideas come from and what are the key steps to getting them commissioned by a TV channel? Join experienced TV development producer and creativity coach Colin Pauser-Cowman, for this specially designed online course designed to answer these important questions and much more.

Are you working in the media sector and believe you might have a great TV idea? Are you interested in the areas of TV concept development, presentation and pitching? Would you like a better understanding of the Irish commissioning process? If so, this course will be right up your street. Over 4 online sessions, Colin will unpack the TV development and commissioning process and share best practice tips and techniques for TV concept conception, design, presentation and pitching. The final session will be a prep and pitch session with a channel commissioner. Having completed these sessions, attendees will be offered a valuable one to one online consultancy session. This session will allow attendees to apply their learnings from the course, and pitch a self-generated idea privately. They will receive feedback and tailored guidance on how to further develop or progress the ideas they pitch.

Session 2. Tailoring your pitch to channels and audiences. 11 March, 2021.

Session 3. The power of understanding TV genres and how these enhance your pitch. 15 March, 2021.

Session 4. Structuring your pitch to stand out. Best practice in proposal writing. 18 March, 2021

*Note Pitch and review slots will be 30 minutes duration and will take place on Friday 19 March, 2021.

Participant Profile:

These online sessions are aimed at established and emerging television production personnel and TV/Media graduates.

Screen Skills Ireland courses are open to all regardless of gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, or disability.

Note* These sessions will focus on non-scripted factual and formatted TV genres only (this course is not focused on drama, scripted, film or animation). Genres will include Factual and Documentary Series, Specialist Factual, Lifestyle / Features and Popular Factual, Factual Entertainment. Applicants interested in broadening their skill set in TV development for non-scripted TV are invited to apply.
